Jake's List Legal

Privacy Policy

Jake's List is committed to handling contractor, business, consumer, property, and public-record information responsibly and transparently.

Effective Date: August 27, 2026

Our Approach to Privacy

This Privacy Policy explains how Jake's List collects, uses, stores, processes, and shares information when you visit our website or applications, create an account, search the platform, submit a contractor experience, interact with other platform features, or otherwise use Jake's List.

Jake's List is different from a traditional website because the platform may contain information about consumers, customers, properties, and businesses obtained from public records, government sources, lawful third-party sources, and experiences submitted by verified or authorized business users.

A person whose information appears in Jake's List may not have created an account or interacted directly with Jake's List. This Policy explains how we approach those circumstances as well.

1. Information We Collect From Account Holders

When a contractor, service professional, business owner, employee, authorized representative, or other user creates or uses an account, we may collect information such as:

  • Name and business name.
  • Email address and telephone number.
  • Business address and service area.
  • Business verification information, which may include business registration information, EIN-related verification information, licenses, certifications, or association memberships.
  • Account username, authentication, and security information.
  • Trade, specialty, industry, and business profile information.
  • Subscription and transaction information.
  • Communications you send to Jake's List, including support requests and dispute-related communications.
  • Other information you voluntarily provide through the platform.

Payment-card information may be processed by our payment service providers. Jake's List may not directly store complete payment-card numbers.

2. Information About Consumers and Customers

Jake's List may process information about consumers, homeowners, customers, prospective customers, clients, property owners, or other individuals who are searched, reviewed, or otherwise associated with information available through the platform.

Depending on availability and applicable law, this information may include:

  • Name and address information.
  • Property ownership and parcel information.
  • Property characteristics and publicly available property records.
  • Publicly available government records.
  • Permitting and related government information.
  • Publicly available court, civil, lien, judgment, or similar records where lawfully available and appropriate for the platform.
  • Contractor-submitted information regarding legitimate business interactions or experiences.
  • Information received from lawful third-party data providers.
  • Information derived from or associated with the foregoing sources.

The presence of information about an individual on Jake's List does not mean that the individual created an account, consented to a contractor review, or otherwise has a relationship with Jake's List.

3. Contractor Experiences and Reviews

Authorized business users may submit information describing their company's firsthand experience with a customer or prospective customer.

Submitted information may include narrative descriptions, structured responses, payment-related experiences, whether the business would work with the customer again, project information, dates or approximate dates, and other information relevant to the business interaction.

If Jake's List offers voice-assisted submissions, audio may be processed to transcribe or structure the contractor's experience. We may use automated tools to help identify inappropriate content, organize submissions, summarize information, and support moderation.

Jake's List does not independently verify every statement submitted by a contractor. We may use account verification, automated review, moderation procedures, supporting documentation, dispute processes, and other safeguards intended to reduce fraud, abuse, and inaccurate information.

4. Public Records and Government Information

Jake's List may collect, organize, index, display, link to, summarize, or analyze information made available by government agencies and other lawful public sources.

Sources may include county auditors, assessors, recorders, courts, permitting authorities, state or local agencies, geographic and environmental sources, and other public-record systems.

Public records may contain errors, may be incomplete, may be updated on different schedules, and may later be corrected, sealed, removed, or otherwise changed by the originating source. Jake's List does not control government databases.

5. Third-Party Data

Jake's List may receive information from lawful third-party providers, business partners, verification services, public-data providers, analytics providers, mapping or geographic services, and other sources that support platform functionality.

Information from multiple sources may be combined when reasonably necessary to identify records, verify information, improve accuracy, operate Jake's List, prevent fraud, or provide platform intelligence.

Third-party information remains subject to the availability, accuracy, licensing restrictions, and update schedules of the applicable source.

6. Identity and Property Resolution

Jake's List may use names, addresses, property records, geographic information, public records, contractor-submitted information, and other available identifiers to determine whether information from different sources appears to relate to the same person, property, customer, or business.

Identity resolution is not perfect. Individuals may share names, addresses may change, government records may be incomplete, and information may be incorrectly associated with a person or property.

Jake's List may display confidence indicators, source information, or other context to help users understand the basis for a potential match.

7. Search and Platform Activity

When you use Jake's List, we may collect information regarding searches, reports viewed, features used, pages visited, interactions with platform content, submissions, account activity, and related usage information.

We may use this information to operate the platform, enforce usage limits, improve search quality, prevent abuse, investigate security incidents, improve products and services, understand usage patterns, and maintain appropriate records of platform activity.

8. Device, Log, and Technical Information

We may automatically collect technical information when you access Jake's List, including:

  • IP address.
  • Browser type and version.
  • Device and operating-system information.
  • Access dates and times.
  • Pages and features used.
  • Referring and exit pages.
  • Approximate location derived from IP address.
  • Authentication and security events.
  • Error, performance, and diagnostic information.

This information helps us secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Jake's List.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Jake's List and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, authenticate users, protect accounts, understand platform usage, measure performance, and improve our services.

Browser settings may allow you to block or delete certain cookies. Disabling necessary cookies may prevent portions of Jake's List from functioning properly.

9A. Uploaded Files, Media, and Metadata

If you upload photographs, documents, videos, audio, or other files to Jake's List, we may process the file itself and information associated with it as necessary to provide, moderate, secure, and improve the applicable platform feature.

Uploaded files may contain metadata such as creation dates, device information, file properties, or geographic location information. Users should remove metadata they do not intend to provide before uploading content.

We may use automated technologies to inspect uploaded content for security, fraud, abuse, moderation, or other platform-integrity purposes.

10. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing

Jake's List may use artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithms, and other automated technologies to help organize, classify, match, summarize, moderate, and analyze information.

Automated systems may be used to assist with identity resolution, contractor-experience processing, content moderation, pattern detection, confidence assessments, summaries, and other intelligence features.

Automated systems can make mistakes. AI-generated information may contain errors, omissions, or incorrect interpretations and should be evaluated together with the underlying sources and other available information.

Communications, submissions, reviews, responses, uploaded content, account activity, and other interactions may also be processed by automated technologies designed to detect spam, fraud, abuse, malicious activity, prohibited content, or security threats.

Information you choose to include in a contractor or business profile may be visible to other authorized users or, where clearly indicated, to the public.

Privacy and visibility controls may vary by feature. We will provide additional notice when appropriate for features that materially change how information is displayed or shared.

13. How We Share Information

Jake's List may share information as reasonably necessary to operate the platform, including with:

  • Hosting, database, infrastructure, and security providers.

We may also share information in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable law.

14. Advertising, Sponsorships, and Sale of Personal Data

Jake's List may display sponsorships, industry resources, business offers, or advertising directed to contractors and business users.

We do not provide advertisers with access to private Jake's List consumer reports or contractor-submitted experiences for the purpose of allowing advertisers to target identifiable consumers.

Jake's List does not sell Social Security numbers, financial account credentials, payment-card numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive authentication information.

Certain state privacy laws define terms such as "sale," "sharing," and "targeted advertising" broadly. If our practices are considered a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under applicable law, we will provide legally required notices and choices.

15. Data Security

Jake's List uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure.

No internet service, database, or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting their passwords, authentication methods, devices, and account credentials.

If you believe your account or information has been compromised, contact us promptly.

16. Data Retention

Jake's List retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the platform, maintain business and security records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, enforce agreements, and protect the integrity of Jake's List.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, source, purpose, legal requirements, contractual requirements, and whether the information is part of a public record or legitimate contractor experience.

Closing a contractor account does not necessarily require deletion of all information previously submitted through that account. We may retain legitimate reviews, moderation records, transaction records, security records, public information, or other information where reasonably necessary and permitted by law.

17. Corrections, Disputes, and Consumer Requests

Jake's List recognizes that public records, identity matches, third-party information, and contractor-submitted experiences may be disputed or may contain errors.

Individuals may contact Jake's List to report information they believe is inaccurate, incorrectly associated with them, outdated, unlawfully displayed, or otherwise requires review.

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity, identify the disputed information, investigate the request, and protect against fraudulent correction or deletion requests.

Depending on the circumstances, Jake's List may correct information, update a source, add context, separate an incorrect identity match, restrict information, remove information, or direct the requester to the originating government or third-party source.

A disagreement with a truthful contractor experience does not automatically require removal. Review disputes may be handled under our Terms of Service and applicable review and correction procedures.

18. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have rights concerning personal information, which may include rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain information, or to opt out of certain uses of personal information.

Privacy rights vary by jurisdiction and may not apply to all information processed by Jake's List. Publicly available information, business information, information required for legal or security purposes, and other categories may be subject to statutory exceptions.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before completing a privacy request. Where applicable, authorized agents may submit requests on behalf of individuals subject to appropriate verification.

Jake's List will not unlawfully discriminate against an individual for exercising applicable privacy rights.

19. Consumer Reporting and Regulated Uses

Jake's List is designed as a business intelligence and contractor-experience platform and is not intended to be used to determine eligibility for employment, housing, consumer credit, insurance, or other purposes regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar laws.

Users are prohibited from using Jake's List for a purpose that would violate applicable consumer-reporting, credit, employment, housing, insurance, privacy, anti-discrimination, or other laws.

Jake's List reports, summaries, scores, and contractor experiences should not be used as the sole basis for a material business decision. Users remain responsible for independently evaluating information and complying with laws applicable to their business and intended use.

20. Communications and Notifications

Where permitted, we may also send product updates, educational materials, or promotional communications. You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the instructions included in those communications.

Opting out of promotional communications will not prevent us from sending necessary transactional or security-related messages.
